Indestructible

And another month flew by.

The weather is still warm to hot. Campers coming back from Jordan complain about the heat they had to cope with.

Zakaria had a great time with the camper families passing through. Travelling for a year or more with small children seems to be a new trend. I wouldn’t do it. Small children take too much energy and time to be able to enjoy travelling, unless you stay a long time in each place.

Zakaria is not the happiest boy these days. The last teeth (the big ones) are troubling him. At times, he doesn’t know what he really wants and there is no way in pleasing him.

He is becoming very possessive about his “Mama”. Although I think it is a just a phase, it is something we have to manage, because it is becoming a problem.

On the other hand, he is very clever in picking up new words and phrases and is always ready to help a hand. When not observing, he is copying and imitating, and therefore learning fast.

Aladdin is still his favourite story, and Bambi is on Number Two.

The Aladdin book he knows by heart. When I ask him where I have to start reading, he says a word and indicates the page.

He’s very much into expressions these days, which he utters at any moment of the day.

The garden is in autumn mode. The trees are slowly getting bald. The roses are back and the jasmine is growing and smelling. Until now the mint hasn’t restarted. I always thought mint is indestructible. Once you have it, you cannot get rid of it. Now I’m starting to get the feeling that maybe the drought and heat has been so bad, that even mint cannot survive it without being “watered”. Remains to be seen.
