Oil and music

Winter is slowly creeping in. We have started heating the small living room at night to be comfortable.

The cold weather doesn’t keep the campers from visiting us. All of them, they are Africa travellers now, on their way to Central or South Africa. They don’t mind being cold a little while longer, as hot weather is in their horizon.

The olives have come back from the press as clear gold coloured oil. The harvest was rich this year. We are very happy with that.

The onions, garlic and beans were planted and are growing. The garden looks good with the flowers adding a bit of colour to it.

It is now a matter of going through the coldest months.

Zakaria is over the moon. With the heating on at night, he is allowed to run around again without trousers and other warm garments. He is an extreme active child. Never sits still during the day, actually hardly sits down. He is always moving and eats standing upright, most of the time while doing something else.

Advantage is that he is getting strong quickly.

His vocabulary is extending and when he’s talking, I‘m able to understand some words. Some are Arabic, most are Dutch.

I am told that children that are raised bilingually first mix both languages and afterwards separate them.

In the meantime, he is increasing his musical efforts by taking anything that looks like a drum and tapping on it while singing a melody he picked up from his “Papa”.
