New musical talent

The new wall in the garden is finished. We have started cleaning up, slowly though. The olive harvest has started which is now priority 1.

The campers haven’t been disturbed by the construction works. They often found it interesting and were pleased with the view they had over the fields nearby.

After a week of dark grey weather with lots of rain, we are having sunny days again with cold nights. The combination of lots of water with sun makes everything grow and flourish again. Beautifully coloured carnations and roses are having their second season after the dry hot summer.

Once the red claylike soil has dried up; I’ll have to put in onions, garlic and beans.

Once again a busy time of the year. This is the last one before the freezing cold winter sets in.

The house is in semi-winter mode, meaning some carpets are out, but we haven’t started heating yet. By next month we will have to which amazes most tourists because when they think of Syria, they think of it as a sunny hot country the whole year round.

Until today campers are coming by. Some have announced their arrival in December. More and more tourists are coming this way. The country has been inundated with “fly in” tourists the last 2 months and will be again the second half of December.

Zakaria is still charming the campers, getting a lot of sweets from them and having his picture taken. An Austrian grandfather has printed some pictures on his colour printer. 1 was immediately claimed by brother Khaliel. He needed it for the house that he is finishing. Next week, that one is getting married. Excited, he is.

The first wedding Zakaria will be attending. He loves music and dancing. When his father his home, he has to play music and sing, so he can dance to it. When “Pappa” is not home, he uses anything to as a drum and it is starting to sound like music. This is drumming with the hands, by the way.

When Zakaria is not whining or creaming, because he wants something (he is a 15-month old after all), he sings a composition of his own : kaaa dee yaaa, kaaa dee yaaa, kaaa dee ya, ka da.
