New playmates

There are so many things going on that I did not even notice it has been a month since my last blog update. No spectacular things, but all together they make that time flies.

Mohamed gained two grandsons. 1 is living with its brother and 3 sisters near the Assad Lake in the East. 1 is living here in the village, a new playmate for Zakaria.

No shortage of future playmates for Zakaria. Lately he and the little boy next doors are looking very interestedly towards each other. They are about the same age.

Funnily enough, I don’t know its name as I never seem to have the occasion to talk to its mother. When outside, she is very busy working in the garden attending her two babies at the same time. She had a second baby about a year after the first one.

They don’t belong to my husband’s family neither (80% in the village does). Their family is living in the next village with which they spend a lot of time.

We are in the last stages of building the wall in the garden. It has been decided how the second layer will be built. We will not take the risk of stapling stones and having it fall over again. This time we will use cement. The bricks (cut stones), cement and sand is waiting for the workers to come in. With a bit of luck, we will be finished before the next Eid (the Big One), before starting the olive harvest.

We need a new olive oil supply.

The weather is too hot for the time of the year with a lot of dust in the air. This means the trees still need to be watered quite regularly. Not all of them, as some are already in autumn mode.

The roses and carnations have picked up again, their bright colours contrasting with the yellow leaves of the surrounding trees.

Spring and Autumn are my favourite seasons. Mine and the birds’ which are singing very happily the whole day round.
