New business model
After a few weeks of having no campers in the backyards, the first summer tourists have arrived. They are French and earlier then expected. It seems that the weather is so awful in Europe that travellers cannot wait to leave for sunnier places.
A new tendency for campers is to travel in a converted bus or lorry. They have got everything with them, complete bathroom and washing machine included.
Another tendency this year is for campervans to travel in convoy. Many come together, organized and escorted by travel agency representatives or on their own initiative.
As many request to stay at our place, but we have to refuse because we do not have the room for them (sometimes 25 campervans in one go), we have decided to extend the camping facilities. It is not a lot of work to have more room for vehicles to park. We just have to clean up the back of the yard which was left unused and plant some trees. Water is already available and having electricity supply along the wall is a minor job.
It does mean we are changing the business model and it will be busy at times. It will be hard to keep the balance between the mass tourism and the relaxed style of the individuals. Good thing we will be able to send the groups to the latter part of the yard, keeping the rest peaceful for the other campers and ourselves.
The first group will arrive in August. We will see how it goes from there on.

Hello from Belgacom (where we have a few cases of mexican flu..).
According to what I read, you should be back in Belgium for a few days.
A lot of rain this week, isn't it?
Take care.
